CHASE Children's Hospice Service
Life
limited children suffer from a wide range of complex and often
degenerative conditions
invariably needing constant care, sometimes for many years, placing
an enormous strain on the whole family. CHASE Childrens Hospice Service helps these children, young people and their families by offering a combination of practical and emotional support at home, and supportive respite and end-of-life care at Christopher's - a purpose built childrens hospice that opened in November 2001 at Artington, near Guildford, Surrey. In addition to nine bedrooms, the bright and welcoming Christopher's building has hobbies rooms, a hydrotherapy pool, facilities for multi-sensory, play and music therapy plus four flats for accompanying families. |

| CHASE care, provided entirely free of charge, is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year offering life-limited children the best time for living, however long that might be. It costs over £2.5m a year for this care which has to come almost entirely from fundraising efforts such as the lottery. Last year the lottery netted nearly £0.25m which was shared equally between CHASE and Phyllis Tuckwell. Every
new member to enrol in the lottery increases the revenue we are able
to contribute. |
