Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice provides supportive and end of life care for adult patients and families who are living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer, and continues to support families after their loved ones have died. Phyllis Tuckwell run Little Rays and Storm sessions, support groups for bereaved children of primary, secondary & sixth form school age. These sessions provide invaluable support to children after a loved one, often a parent, has died.

Oh yes they did! The Princes Hall in Aldershot kindly donated 40 tickets to their Christmas pantomime, Aladdin, to local charity Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care. The tickets were given by the Princes Hall and Rushmoor Borough Council, to children who attend Phyllis Tuckwell’s Little Rays and Storm sessions.

The children were taken to the panto on Friday 15th December, where they were given a warm welcome and invited to meet some of the cast members before the performance.

“We would like to thank the Princes Hall and Rushmoor Borough Council for so generously donating pantomime tickets to Phyllis Tuckwell, which they have done for two years now,” said Claire Tune, Lead Counsellor at Phyllis Tuckwell. “The children had a fabulous time and left with some very special memories.”

“The counselling support which Phyllis Tuckwell offers is crucial in helping families come to terms with the death of a loved one,” said Councillor David Clifford, Leader of Rushmoor Borough Council. “We are delighted to have been able to offer these children a little light relief at Christmas, a time when they may be missing their loved ones that bit more than usual.”

Phyllis Tuckwell provides supportive and end of life care for adult patients and families who are living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer, and continues to support families after their loved ones have died. However, as the NHS/Government only covers 20% of its costs, it has to raise over £20,000 a day to be able to offer all its services, which are free of charge to patients and their families. Gifts such as these pantomime tickets are therefore much appreciated, and enable the charity to give even more to those it supports.
