The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice

All care services are provided without charge, but cost the charity over £3 million a year. Funding is heavily dependent on the generosity of local people and on fundraising initiatives such as the lottery. Last year our members' involvement meant we were able to contribute £150,000 towards Phyllis Tuckwells running costs - an equal amount went to CHASE. By joining NOW and increasing our membership, you will be helping to increase our contribution in the future.
The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham, Surrey, which opened in 1979, provides specialist palliative care to adults with life-limiting illnesses such as cancer, HIV and motor neurone disease.
In addition to its 20 in-patient beds, the hospice has a thriving Day Care Centre offering about 2000 attendances each year and an experienced Home Support Team. The unit aims to provide individualised, high quality care and support for patients, their family and friends through the combined efforts of a specialist palliative care team comprising doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, patient welfare officers, complimentary and occupational therapists and bereavement counsellors - to name but a few - assisted by many hundreds of committed volunteers.
Whilst the Hospice recently underwent a £1.2m modernisation programme, it has an on-going need not only to develop, but to maintain the services it provides for the well-being of the patients and their families.
