The Board of Trustees of leading children’s hospice charity, Shooting Star Children’s Hospices is delighted to welcome Andrew Coppel as its new Chairman with immediate effect.

Andrew has extensive business and chair experience. In his executive career, Andrew has been CEO of the De Vere Group, Queens Moat Houses and Jockey Club Racecourses. Since 2000, he has had  chair roles with Dolphin Capital Investors,  Sale Tilney, London Irish and Tourism Ireland, where his role as chairman was rewarded with a CBE.

Nigel Harding, Chief Executive of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices, said: “We’re delighted that Andrew is joining us. He will be bringing a huge wealth of knowledge and experience, and we’re looking forward to working with him to ensure we develop as a charity and continue to provide outstanding care for families that desperately need it.”

Commenting on his appointment, Andrew Coppel said: “I’m honoured and privileged to have been chosen as the Chairman of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. The charity provides a lifeline to families facing the unimaginable and we must continue to develop our services to support the growing needs of children with life-limiting conditions and their families.”

Ken Hanna, who has been Chairman for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices, will be retiring after nine years in the role. Ken was appointed Chairman of CHASE Hospice Care for Children in 2010 and was instrumental in the merger with Shooting Star in 2011 / 2012.

Shooting Star Children’s Hospices would like to thank Ken for his long and enormously valuable service to the charity.
